Mirato is a free iPhone app that turns PDF sheet music pages with a wink — TrueDepth camera, offline, no biometric data stored.
Mirato responds to winks in under a second, sends zero biometric data to external servers, and is compatible with any iPhone with Face ID (iPhone X and later). The full setup — load sheet music, calibrate, and start playing — takes under three minutes.
How does Mirato work?
Mirato detects winks with the iPhone TrueDepth camera and turns the sheet music page in under one second, with no internet connection.
From opening the app to playing your first bar takes under 30 seconds.
- 01
Load your sheet music
Import any PDF from Files, iCloud or your email. Mirato handles staves and measures.
- 02
Calibrate your eyes
Look at the dot for two seconds. Your iPhone learns your gaze — no cloud cameras.
- 03
Play hands-free
A wink from your chosen eye turns the page. Another wink goes back. That simple.
Why use Mirato to read sheet music?
Mirato removes the need to touch the screen or use pedals: wink detection happens on the device itself, without sending biometric data to any server.
Truly hands-free
Both hands always on the instrument. No tap, no pedal — just a natural wink.
Calibration in seconds
The TrueDepth camera adjusts to your gaze instantly. No lengthy training, no external sensors.
Any PDF
From a scanned score to a digital edition. Mirato handles all standard formats.
Local privacy
Video never leaves your iPhone. No accounts, no servers, no facial analytics.
Which musicians is Mirato for?
Mirato is designed for any musician who must keep both hands on the instrument — classical, jazz, chamber, or baroque repertoire with repeats.

“In long recitals, the page-turning gesture broke my expressive line and my concentration. With Mirato I can maintain phrase continuity and stay fully immersed in the music.”

“Keeping both hands on the instrument at all times is a liberation. It's the smart stand that those of us playing in symphony ensembles had been waiting years for.”

“For band repertoire, with so many repeats and page jumps, a simple wink changes everything. It lets me focus on the sound and the conductor without putting down the trumpet.”
Mirato or a Bluetooth pedal?
Mirato is free and requires no hardware: it turns pages in under one second using only the iPhone TrueDepth camera. A Bluetooth pedal costs €50–€150.

Mirato is a free iPhone app that lets musicians turn PDF sheet music pages with a wink, using the device's TrueDepth camera — the same hardware behind Face ID. It works entirely offline, with no Wi-Fi, no registration, and no cloud upload. Compatible with any PDF score, from scanned manuscripts to digital editions. Available on the App Store at no cost.
Mirato requires Face ID (TrueDepth camera). It works on iPhone X and later, including iPhone 15 and 16. Also on iPad Pro with Face ID.
No. All gaze processing happens on your device, so you can play on stage, at a stand with no Wi-Fi or on a plane.
Yes. In settings you decide whether the left eye advances and the right eye goes back, or vice versa. You can also set the minimum wink duration to avoid unintentional blinks.
Never. Mirato uses the TrueDepth camera in real time only to detect the wink gesture — no video is recorded and no face geometry is stored. The depth data is processed in RAM and discarded the moment the gesture is recognized. Mirato does not send video, images, or biometric data to any server, and never interacts with Face ID or Apple's identity system.
Yes. You can view two pages side by side on iPad, or switch between single and double view on iPhone. One wink turns the whole spread.
Yes. Mirato opens any PDF, including those scanned from physical scores. It does not require the PDF to be from a specific digital edition.
Mirato is free to download and use, with no ads and no subscription. The current version includes all core features: PDF import, wink-triggered page turning, and full offline operation. Optional advanced features for professionals — such as setlists, annotation, and ensemble mode — are planned for a future tier and will be clearly identified before any charge.
